I'm pretty sure I must have mentioned this in a previous post somewhere, but if I didn't... My baby western hognose snake, named Checkers, had not been eating. I acquired him from a breeder on March 21st of this year and he had not eaten since. Nothing I tried interested him AT ALL. That is, until last evening. I am very happy to say that my little snake baby finally ate himself a nice juicy pinkie mouse - scented with tuna, shrimp and crab cat food of all things! - and will hopefully now become a regular eater and start growing. Little guy had me so worried! I almost couldn't believe it when I saw that the pinkie was gone. Definitely something to brighten up my month and take away some stress.

Here's the little hoggie in question. Mommy's little darling. :)

Well, once again it's been a helluva long time since my last post, but I'm not going to let that stop me. This past weekend I drove to Montreal for the regular Reptile Expo they hold there twice every year. And boy did I get some goodies! I really am a bad mother. I haven't even posted photos of the newest additions to the family, and they've been here for at least a month now. Shame on me! Not to mention updates on the other little babies.

I got home from work Friday to discover that my Pamphobeteus sp. "platyomma" tarantula, Pumpkin, had molted during the day! This makes me terribly happy. He'd only molted a month ago and has already molted again. He's grown a good 1/2 inch with this molt. Just to show you how much he's grown between this molt and the last...

The one of the left is obviously the one from Friday and the smaller one is from a month ago. The difference is huge, isn't it? It's amazing how that larger form was squashed inside that smaller one. Spiders are such crazy awesome creatures.
