Well, once again it's been a helluva long time since my last post, but I'm not going to let that stop me. This past weekend I drove to Montreal for the regular Reptile Expo they hold there twice every year. And boy did I get some goodies! I picked up 6 tiny spiderling tarantulas, another crested gecko baby, a spider morph ball python and a baby western hognose snake.

I don't have any photos of the spiderlings, since they're just really so ridiculously tiny and fragile and fast that I don't dare try photogtraphing them. They'd either somehow manage to escape me and be lost forever in the vast-compared-to-them expanses of my kitchen, or the photos would just come out blurry and unclear due to their miniscule size. Honestly, these guys are about 1/4 of an inch in leg span, two of them even smaller, at 1/6 of an inch. Get a ruler, and you'll see just how tiny that actually is. Mind boggling, isn't it? What blows my mind most is that one of those tiny 1/4 inch tarantula babies will someday - if I am lucky and do well - grow to have an 11 inch leg span. That's nearly a whole foot. That's big ladies and gentleman, very big. I can only hope it gets that large in my care.

For those of you interested, I purchased...

- 1 Nhandu chromatus
- 1 Lasiodora parahybana
- 1 Holothele sp. "Norte de Santander"
- 1 Heterocsodra maculata
- 2 Cyriocosmus perezmilesi

Now! Moving on to the reptiles! I'll start off with my newest crested gecko. Crested geckos, or Rhacodactylus ciliatus, are such sweet little creatures and after falling in love with their sticky little feet and getting my first gecko Stickers, I had to get another. This little one has very different colouring from Stickers though... I'll post the new gecko's photos first, and then some recent ones of stickers and you'll see what I mean!

Just look at those beautiful colours! They go from chocolate to lavender depending on time of day.

Oh hai thar!

And here is Stickers. Nyeeeer! See the colour difference I mentioned?

These guys are still a long way from being full grown, and I'm really hoping they both turn out to be females so I can house them together come adulthood. They're such adorable, wonderful little animals though, they really stole my heart.

Now for the baby Western Hognose snake! These guys are actually native to Canada, albeit out in the prairies. They don't get any bigger than 2 feet long on average either, so quite small in the size department. You'll see why they have the name they do...

Little hog nose indeed! So adorable!

He's so tiny, it just blows me away!

They're burrowing snakes by nature though, that's half of what their little nose in for really. He spends pretty much all his time hiding in his wood shavings and I don't see him at all unless I go digging around for him, haha...

And now for the new ball python. I already have one ball python, my little normal Galen that I got back in October. Well this new guy is also a ball python, but he's a Spider morph, and he looks very, very different. He's absolutely gorgeous too, and I got a great price. I only paid $175 for him, and for a designer snake, that's really cheap. The reason for that though is because he wasn't a little baby anymore, already 7 months old, and since he's a male, he has less breeding value and so they go for a lot cheaper. Here's my new boy!

Isn't the patterning breathtaking? And his green eyes!

He's so beautiful, I love him to bits.

For now he's in quarantine, until I feel like he's acclimated to me and his new surrounding enough, and to be sure that he's healthy before I put him in with Galen. He's still quite a bit of a scaredy snake, and spends most of his time outside his terrarium curled up and resembling a little snail shell. I think with regular handling though, he'll warm up to me and be a good, happy little snake baby.

In other news, I'm in the process of finding myself a bigger home. My small apartment is just that... small! Too small! Myself and the new 24 life forms I live with are just too cramped. I love my apartment, it's been my first real home in so long, but now it's just too small. It's a bummer though because I can't afford anything decently sized in the same area so I'll be stuck moving away from the Downtown core I love so much. Also, I'm searching for a place that I will be able to live with my parents.

Yes, that's right. My parents will be moving with me. They living in my home, not the other way around. There is definitely a difference, and I plan on keeping it that way. I refuse to go back to how things were when I lived with them. I am going to be the one who dominates this new household, or it isn't going to happen at all.

Anyway, I should keep looking at rental listings now, since June or May looks like it might be my move time. Cheers!
