That's basically how my life is these days. I'm always running around doing things, seeing people, going places. I don't entirely mind, but it does make it so I often find myself stressed and spread out, with no time to just relax and breathe. That's part of why I haven't posted in over two weeks. I've been too damned busy.

The weekend at my parents went well, although I wound up having to spend an unexpected $185 on a wheel bearing for my car that started really acting up on my drive down. The drive itself went well, thankfully. I drove on the 417 (the freeway here) for the first time in my life - at rush hour, on a long weekend Friday no less - and it actually wasn't that bad. I have no qualms about taking the freeway now, although I still avoid it during rush hour just because of congestion. But yeah, the weekend. A large portion of Saturday and Sunday was spent trying to figure out what was wrong with the car - since at first all I had to go on was a weird thunking sound - and it had both my dad and my uncle stumped. Finally my dad decided that it had to be the wheel bearing, and turns out that's what it was. I'm lucky I was able to have them change it though, otherwise I would've had to spend probably another $300 on labour at a garage.

I got together with two of my high schools friends for a bit and that was nice, just to relax with them. I also - finally - had the chance to buy myself a good down home Sturgeon Falls poutine. I hadn't had one in years and it was nice to eat one of those greasy heart attacks in a box again. Heaven, I tell ya! See for yourself...

My shirt says "Poutine c'est bon!" Poutine is good!

We also had awesome weather the entire weekend, which was really nice. It actually felt like summer for once this year. I wish I had brought my bathing suit, but I totally forgot about it otherwise I would've gone swimming!

Lake Nipissing, near my parents' place.

I also brought along my tarantula Leona. I really wanted my parents to meet her and see what an absolute darling she really is. My mother and father even worked up the courage to hold her, and I think her docility and calmness really showed them that there's more to my spiders than just visciousness and violence. Albeit... holding some of my other tarantulas is completely out of the question because they aren't like Leona at all hehe... Anyhow, she took the trip well, all packed up in a tiny container, safely padded with paper towel. A good first packing for me.

My drive home was really nice, it was a beautiful day and I really enjoyed it. I liked being able to stop when I wanted etc. There was this one lake I had passed by so many times, I finally stopped and parked and took some photos. It's ridiculously beautiful up in North Ontario some places.

See what I mean? No idea what lake it is though...

Let's see, what else have I been up to? Hm... Well I'm still regularly seeing my personal trainer at the gym, three nights a week. I see him Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays for half an hour and it is so showing me how out of shape I am. I went last evening and my arms and shoulders are ridiculously sore from it. Oh well, it's good for me. But I'll be happier when it ends haha... I have another... 7 sessions to go now.
I spentthe evenings last week just catching up on things that needed to be done. Doing groceries, caring for the animals, cleaning. I'm just really finishing all of that sort of stuff up this week, really. I'm away from home so much that a lot of stuff just doesn't get done, and things like dishes pile up on me. I was kind of burning out from stress and doing too much last week... I was in a really lousy mood and blah... not a nice place. I was very happy to see the weekend arrive.

Friday night I went out to a rave with my good friend Minda and some other people, and that was awesome fun. The first DJ sucked, but the 2nd one was from Montreal and he was pretty right on. It was a fun night for sure, nice to finally just get out and enjoy myself and hear some good psytrance.

Saturday was nice, I went and did some groceries and checked out terrariums and aquariums at a pet store, since I'm planning on buying a ball python when I go to the Reptile Expo in October. I almost bought an albino corn snake while at the pet store though. They had it on sale for $80 with a store card - which I have - instead of $200 and it was really tempting me. But I would've had to spend another $300 to set myself up for it, so I decided against it and to just wait it out for my ball python and to be set up properly when I bring the little critter home. I've wanted a ball python since I was a little girl and I can finally afford to have one and there's no one to complain about it and I'm really looking forward to it. Just another 4 weeks before the Reptile Expo and then, it will be reality!

Oh, and I baked a cake Saturday evening, and decorated it on Sunday. It's just a regular vanilla cake, with vanilla icing, but I dyed the cake pink, carved it into a butterfly shape and dyed the icing yellow and orange... It was a gift for my besty Tina. Here's the cake!

Butterfly cake! The colourful bits are candy-covered chocolate chips.

My pretty cake :3

I'm so proud of that cake you have no idea. It's the first time I actually bake and decorate something that I actually wind up liking once I'm finished with it. It could've been a helluva lot better, but for a first... pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

Anyhow... I'm getting pretty tired of typing, and that's about all I've been up to, so that's that. Cheers!
