Of course only the next day does my rental supplied AC get installed. After all the crazy insane heat. Nice. Not impressed. Funnily enough though, I gave my two months notice that same day so it was kind of like "Neener, you took too long, I'm moving out." Which wasn't the case at all but hey.
Actually, I don't think I blogged about that yet. I shall. In August, I'm moving into a larger, 3 bedroom apartment and my parents will be moving in with me. There are lots of reasons behind this, which I won't go into because they're complicated and long drawn out, but it will be for the better for everybody. I'm especially excited for the fact that the 3rd, smallest bedroom will be a room set aside solely for my animals! Yay, animal room!
And now back to the initial subject, the new gecko! A friend of mine wanted to go to the Reptile Expo here in Ottawa yesterday, to purchase herself a corn snake. Since she'd never been to an expo before and wasn't 100% certain what to look for, I told her I'd tag along. Well, of course I wound up falling in love with the most adorable little Crested Gecko. Here she is. :)
She's 3 years old, lost her tail ages ago, and is a proven breeder. And I only paid $75! He'd been asking $100, but my friend and I wound up wandering over later in the show and it was nearing close so the guy offered me an end-of-day discount. That's not much more than I paid for both my little babies, Stickers and Lavender.
I haven't named her yet, that will come once I've gotten to know her a little better. She's docile and curious though. I was taking her photo and she kept wanting to jump on the camera! Haha... And she's just such a beautiful little dalmatian morph, I got really lucky. And I just happened to have an empty terrarium at home, perfect for a gecko. So. Heh. I have absolutely no will power.
So I had an absolutely fantastic weekend, all in all. Friday I did some errands, picked up a few things, and then went for a nice long walk with a couple friends of mine along the Ottawa River once night had fallen. It was so nice, the weather was warm but not too hot, there was a nice light breeze and it was just marvelous and really enjoyable.
Saturday I did some shopping and picked up a really cool hippie belt with nifty pockets, which will be great when I go raving again. No more worrying about losing my purse! I also got this awesome pendant, it's two people having sex, haha! It's a woman riding a man, and it has all the little details, right down to his testicles, heh. I also got my groceries out of the way, which I'm glad I did. Then I wound up meeting up with my friend Erin for supper and we hit up Pancho Villa, a mexican place on Elgin, and it was sooo tasty. We were so full when we left, full but happy. Then we wandered down to Confederation Park and sat on a bench in the dark, talking, and laughing at the rats. There were feral rats everywhere! I was amazed at how many there were, I'd never seen that before.
Then Sunday I woke around 10am, had a nice breakfast, did some housecleaning, and met up with Erin again to go to the Expo. Of course you know what happened then. From there we hit up a few pet stores to help her get supplied, and had supper at Red Lobster - delicious shrimp - and then I dropped her off and went home and finished cleaning and set up the gecko's new terrarium and relaxed and...
Well, it was a marvelous weekend. Probably one of the best I've had in a very, very long time.
