May. 13th, 2009 02:12 pmSo this is my first post here. Thank you to the wonderful Nonnie for giving me a code. :3 Danke, darling! It'll take me a little while to figure out this new site but I have a feeling I'll quite enjoy it. I currently have a blog on blogspot also called Mazes of the Mind. If anyone is curious as to what I've been up to before joining here, go have a look. I plan on continuing to update both, although from now on, the posts will likely mirror each other.
This evening I'm going to go do the rounds of the city for Ottawa's Tulip Festival. I was supposed to go last Sunday but the weather was less than agreeable this past weekend and we wound up not going. However, today is gorgeous and sunny, so a friend and I will be going out for a stroll with our cameras to see what there is to see. I'll certainly take the time to share some of my better photos.
I also have a trip coming up this weekend to go visit my parents. Three of my friends are coming along, for a fishing trip and some good relaxation away from the city. My parents live in a very beautiful area, with their house sitting on the shore of a very large lake, and odds are I'll come away from there with quite a few nice photographs to share with you as well.
I went to the library over lunch today and picked up two books for myself. One is the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy because I've been hearing from so many people that it's such an amazing book. The other is a book about skills to survive in the wilderness. I quite like that subject and would love to learn more, and have several more books on the subject lined up for my future reading. I recently was reading the Foxfire books, a series of magazines published in the late 60's and early 70's about traditional mountain life that were then compiled into 4 volumes. They gave amazingly accurate and detailed instructions on how to build a traditional log cabin, and I can tell you that my fingers are itching to build one now haha... maybe I could make a model? Hm...
Anyway, I'm happy to be part of this community and hope to make full use of it in the future!
