Brainwave!
That's what my mom calls a brilliant idea, a Brainwave. Anyway, I think I just had one! It was a roundabout way of getting to it, but still, brainwave nonetheless. What am I babbling about? Why, hand crafts of course! Which is what started this whole thing actually.
I was browsing the Daily Deviations on DeviantArt this morning and spotted this awesome thing!
It's a totally gorgeous hand-made journal. More of them are available here, on the person's Etsy. They're all really gorgeous and beautiful.
Anyway, when I spotted this, it gave me the urge and desire to write in a journal by hand again, to carry a journal around with me like I used to. I had just stopped doing that though because I never had a purse large enough to carry everything I wanted in it, hah. And then I went from thinking about making journals to making my own purse!
And that, ladies and gentleman, is my brainwave. Making my own purse. By hand. Because I don't have a sewing machine. BUT. I have a lot of material left over after having cut all my quilt squares (yes, I am still working on that, ever so slowly) and I think I might see if it wouldn't make a good purse. I have a feeling it'll probably be too thin to make a good durable purse, but that's what a trip to Fabricland is for, now isn't it! I'm going to start browsing the internet for a good easy pattern, although I don't particularly want anything too complicated.
Just a nice, simple sack purse with a couple pockets. Something I can use to lug around a journal and a water bottle and other purse staples like my wallet and cell phone etc. I'd really dig it if it had some sort of hippie vibe to it though, heh. That or just like, country bumpkin, running-in-fields-of-wildflowers type of thing. Hm, let's see if the wonderful internet can't provide me with an example...
Something like this. Kind of. You get the idea.

But now I just really want to go home and drag out materials to get started on this. Except, I have very little in terms of supplies. Blah. Oh well, craft related shopping trips are fun!
In other news, I am heading up to my parents' this weekend for Easter. (and I plan on bringing along some of my quilt squares to pass the time!) I'm driving up tomorrow evening after work and I'll probably head home late Sunday. That way I can spend at least one night in my own bed.
I'm a little bummed out because I don't particularly want to go visit this weekend. It's a friend's birthday on Saturday and I miss her party, plus it's the Bal en Blanc in Montreal on Sunday and Infected Mushroom will be there and I'm missing out on that too... but the car needs work done on it and I told my grandparents I would be coming to visit so... eh well.
Anyhow, I'm hungry and it's barely 10am but I don't get to eat lunch until 1pm because someone is sick and I have to cover and... feh. I'm going to go cruising for a breakfast sandwich, I think. Maybe it'll help get this crafting itch out of me if I go for a quick stroll outside. I hate how this feeling always hits me at work!
Cheers!
