I will behave

Really. I'm going to write up a post about my vacation. It will be quick. And lazy. But I'm going to do it. And then I'll get on with gabbering about what it is that brought me here in the first place! But yeah. Vacation. So... on July 15th, I boarded a plane headed to Edmonton, Alberta...

This is the 2nd time I fly (I don't count return trips as another flight) and the 2nd time out to Edmonton. (Last year's goings-on can be found here.) Once again, I was on my way to Motion Notion. There had been more of us last year, but this year it was just Jesse and I. Not something I would complain about of course, due to the fact that I am madly in love with the man and basically worship the ground he walks on. Sadly, the weather was not on our side. Most of the 5 day/4 night festival was spent with drizzly rain and cold temperatures. The mid-afternoons on a few days were quite wonderful, but for the most part, things were rather dreary.

We got lucky on Friday night and had a rainless time dancing to some awesome dubstep (Datsik and Excision to be precise) so at least that was good, and definitely my favourite night of the festival. We didn't bother hanging around Mainstage much on Saturday Psy night because as we sat around the fire waiting for things to get good... the power went out twice within half an hour. And the second time we waited over 20 minutse for the power to get back and finally just bailed and went back to the tent. Eventually they got things going again, but I didn't hear anything worth dancing to until nearly 7am the next morning, so we didn't miss much.

For a crazy electronic music hippie festival, neither of us really took many substances. We didn't even spend all that much time stoned. The weather just really wasn't for it, and so neither were we. Which is rather disappointing since I'd been hoping to try LSD with Jesse. I want my first trip to be with him, to be special with his presence. (I know someone who's first LSD trip occured in a Value Village thrift store, what the hell...) It was still a good time though, and I'm glad I went.

I spent the last 2 days of my time in Alberta back at Jesse's house. We didn't do much of anything, except smoke and watch tv and movies and have sex, but that was more than fine with me. Wednesday morning I drove back to the airport and came home. I have to admit I had a good cry in a bathroom stall in the airport before boarding my plane though.

Then the following weekend I went North into Quebec, to go to the Eclipse Festival. Basically another festival like Motion Notion. Thankfully the weather was quite a bit more pleasant this time around, and I even got to go swimming in the Gatineau river on Saturday. I did overdo it with dancing and lack of sleep and substances though... so that weekend really wrecked me. I had a marvelous time with all my friends though, so it was definitely worth it and I think I'll be going again next year.

AND NOW! That which brought me here initially! I just discovered that Algonquin College has an Automotive Service Technician course specifically for GM vehicles where you do your apprenticeship in a GM dealership... and it looks like they will help you find an apprenticeship!!! It's too late for me to apply for the fall term, but a year from now... hey, why not? I'm definitely going to look into it. That and I also discovered the Veterinary Technician course, another 2 year program, and something I'd be interested in for sure. I really want to work with animals. Both are extremely expensive and intensive and srs bsns, but damn... I need to make a life change and one of these might be it, eh?

Cheers!
